Lighthouse Children’s Ministry was registered as an NPO in March 2001. We exist to make a difference in the lives of children with particularly disadvantaged children in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.
We desire to see this generation reaching adulthood with healthy hearts, renewed minds and the knowledge of the truth that their creator loves them and that He has a unique and wonderful plan for their lives.
Our mission is to train people in the art of first of all recognising and loving children, everything else will flow out of that. The courses we presently offer are Children’s Ministry, Trauma counseling, Baby Ministry, Take care of your heart and Basic child care. We are available to come alongs side any group or institution that wants to start or improve their ministry to children.
On a daily basis we are involved in our local schools and neighbourhoods doing morning assemblies, crèche pre- and primary school lessons in and around Ga-Rankuwa, Gauteng South Africa. We are also involved in Mmakau a tribal village and 10 Rooms an informal settlement in Hartbeespoort on a weekly basis. Recently, a young couple, Gideon and Sosi Thobane, from Soweto has joined us and we look forward to making inroads into that area as well.
In 1999 God gave us a farm to develop a camp site which we used until the end of 2007. We had to leave that place because of mining activities and so the mine bought us another place that was much better than what we had until then. The camp site is near the Cheetah Farm in De Wildt where we run some of our trainings and all of our camps for children and teenagers. We are convinced about the great advantage of camps to impact the young ones and they of course enjoy this very much. In all these camps trauma counseling is offered and many are benefitting from this.
With the support of Fabulous Friends we are planning to:
– Buy 24 beds for the 8 bedrooms we could build several years ago.
– Build a nice playground for the children.
